Yippee-kai-yeah motherf----r!! Its Round-up time again!

Yippee-kai-yeah motherf----r!! It's Round-up time again!

Now that was a week of football;  crazy fantasy football.  We saw some unbelievable points totals and we saw some unforgiving zeroes.  Names you’ve never heard of coming up big and names you’re used to seeing at the top are suddenly at the bottom.  But we’ll get into that in just a bit.  What I’d like to do first, before continuing with the round-up, is I’d like to start giving out a Fantasy Player of the Week Award.  It’s not a Buzzie.  Those are something special that really only come from Keith’s brain.  I just want to start acknowledging that one guy who either helped you win big by starting him or crushed your hopes and dreams if you played against him.  The guy whose point total for the week crushes entire teams.  The true difference-maker.  And you know who it is this week.  I probably don’t even need to build any suspense… (more…)

Decisions, decisions. Hows it all going to play out?

Decisions, decisions. How's it all going to play out?

OK, so here we go.  The NFL’s Week 4 is upon us and now you fantasy owners are looking at official, non-hurricane induced bye weeks.  Off for Week 4 are the defending Super Bowl champion NY Giants as well as the Indianapolois Colts, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, and New England Patriots.  Make sure you’ve got your last minute lineup changes made.  You don’t want to be caught shorthanded this week.  Since Keith was nice enough to do the round-up for me this week, I’m going to give him a break and take the game by game look.  Here’s what I think we’re all in store for this coming weekend…

NFL Week 3 Fantasy Round-Up

Grab your lasso, boys! Its round-up time!

Grab your lasso, boys! It's round-up time!

What a week, huh?  I don’t know what jazzed me up the most.  Ronnie Brown and the Dolphins pummelling the Pats?  That Carson Palmer and that Who’syermama guy finally got on the same page?  Jay Cutler’s continued breakout?  That the top scoring QBs had names like Griese and Orton and O’Sullivan rather than Manning or Romo or McNabb?  Each week is shaping up to be one dog fight after another (no, Michael Vick isn’t coming back) and suddenly no one’s got a free pass to the playoffs.  How did the Week 3 fallout afffect your fantasy teams?  Let’s take a look and seee what happened… (more…)

Dont panic! Youre almost there.

Don't panic! You're almost there.

“Whoops!”, said the guy who just woke up on his friend’s couch at noon(ish) on Monday after a very exhilirating and emotional night at Yankee Stadium.  With games starting in less than 20 minutes, I think we’ll be hard pressed to get a full Play ‘em or Pine ‘em article up in time for rosters this week.  But again, like I said in the last Picking Up and Dropping Off, here in the final week of baseball, you either got it or you don’t.  Watch your injuries, get in as many two-start pitchers as you can, watch who’s taking a seat until the playoffs, and keep your fingers crossed.  The last week of the season can be fantasy euphoria or it can be a fantasy nightmare.  Brace yourself.  The ride’s almost over.  I’ll be back tomorrow with our NFL Fantasy Round-up, and from there on it’s all about the pigskin.

Getting anxious?  We are too.  Here’s a look at how we see the games going this weekend (sans point spread)…

Howard:  Arizona - Waaaaaay too much… (more…)

Game by Game: Week 3

Carolina at Minnesota – Minnesota is kind of a mess.  What happens next will depend on the attitude in the clubhouse.  Do they rally behind their adversity and grown into one unit?  Or will they self destruct under the pressure?  Either way, they will have their hands full with the Panthers.  The Panthers can, and will, do it all against the Vikings.  They can run (even against good rushing D), they can pass (Steve Smith is baaaaaack), and they have good defense.  They should win the game despite Gus Ferrotte (yes, that Gus Ferrotte) taking over at the QB slot.  The real question is whether Adrian Peterson  is able to play.  If  Chester Taylor is starting at RB, the game could get ugly.  THE GOOD: Steve Smith, Jake Delhomme, Jonathan Stewart, Adrian Peterson (assuming he plays)THE OK: Chester Taylor (if AP doesn’t play), DeAngelo Williams, Mushin Muhammad.  THE BAD: Chester Taylor (if AP does play). Is that a dart in your neck or are you just happy to be winning?

Is that a dart in your neck or are you just happy to be winning?

Originally I had just planned on doing another installment of Picking Up & Dropping Off, but at this stage of the game, is it really necessary?  Do you really need me to highlight players for you still?  At this point in the fantasy season you should be either one of those savvy fantasy owners who knows exactly who to pick up and when or you’re one of the masses who is out of contention and looking over here for football articles to help you win a championship over there.  I’m going to have to assume I’ve got a little from column A and a little from column B.  So if it’s baseball advice you’re still seeking, then the best advice I can give you today, in the immortal words of Curtis Mayfield and Frank the Tank, is keep on keeping on. Back to basics

Back to basics

I feel I must apologize to Minnie Driver.  Upon leaving the Rotobuzz.com offices she was met with boos and heckling.  Some produce was thrown.  We would also like to apologize to the Rotobuzz.com faithful.  They deserve better.  It that spirit, I would like to welcome this week’s presenter, Keira KinghtleyKurt Warner is very happy to see her.  Since with his 361 yards and 3 TDs this week he feels he has a very strong case for MVP.  Likewise, Darren Sproles feels that after stepping up so huge he should be given consideration.  They are both wrong.  This week’s player of the week cannot be denied.  Not only is he a stud athlete, but he is unhappy with his situation and continues to produce.  This week’s winner of the Rotobuzz.com Buzzie for MVP is…………. Ive got your round-up right here

I've got your round-up right here

I’m not going to lie to you.  The round-up you are about to read is filled with angst, bitterness, and an overall sense of hatred towards underperforming players that are littering my football rosters in several leagues.  It wasn’t a pretty week at all for me, so the tone with which I am writing is as nasty as that girl you went home with a 4AM the other night (you know who I’m talking to…).  Not only did I watch all 4 of my teams put up league-low totals, but my Jets blew a golden opportunity to kick the Patriots while they were down.  So without further ado, here comes the round-up of Week 2 and how it could affect your Week 3 matchups… (more…)
